Class Descriptions

Where to begin?

TriYoga is a systematic approach to yoga beginning with Basics and continuing to Level 7. By exploring the various levels of classes, you will find the right place to enter. Basics presents the foundation of the system and is the standard entry point for those new to yoga or TriYoga. Therapeutics is an entry point for those looking to approach the body slowly and gently. Leveled classes and All Levels can be an entry point for those comfortable in their body who welcome the challenge of learning the unique transitions of TriYoga within the flow. Click below to read more about each level.

  • For those new to yoga or TriYoga and for those who want to return to the foundation of the practice, Basics includes five primary series that introduce the full range of movement to the body. Sequences focus on freeing the hips and spine from tension that impacts the body. Gentle movements simultaneously awaken the energy and calm the mind, leaving one feeling more relaxed and alive.

  • Beginning with Basics, each level is a prerequisite for the next. Bringing solid knowledge of the previous level makes each subsequent level accessible. Level 1 presents salutations, sequences of standing postures, extended flows for the spine and inversions at the wall.

  • Levels 2 and 3 maintain the calm of TriYoga while also intensifying the practice. All the levels systematically build strength and flexibility in the upper and lower body. Stamina naturally develops as one moves systematically through the levels.

  • All levels are welcome at this class which provides options within sequences and postures to allow students to choose the right amount of challenge for them. Knowledge of Basics is recommended.

  • TriYoga Therapeutics provides healing, maintenance and relaxation, helping those suffering from illness or injury as well as those who want to slow down and release tension by sinking in. Supported postures are held for several minutes and longer with rhythmic breathing and a sustained awareness of your mind—creating space between its thoughts. Beginners are welcome as well as advanced students.

  • Meditation practices are integral to TriYoga. Each Yogaflow® class focuses on breathing and concentration. Some classes include seated meditation. TriYoga's approach to meditation is taught in depth through courses dedicated to the topic, known as Prana Vidya. The Flow membership includes 40 days of meditation practices in the pre-recorded videos. Contact us to learn about any upcoming courses or to begin with private sessions.

Types of classes

At every level, the focus for the class varies from week to week. A class sequence might be based on:

  • Main series of the level

  • Free the Hips

  • Free the Spine

  • Strengthening

  • Stand, Invert, Balance

  • 4-Season Flow

  • Trinity Flow, a quiet class with little instruction often accompanied by mantra

Regardless of the level or the focus of the class, students modify up or down as needed, use props, explore rest, substitute alternate sequences and create the perfect level of challenge for their body and mind for that day. Responding to the inner experience in real time energizes the body, expands the mind, and teaches us how to live with awareness.
