Gifts of Summer Retreat

From July 18th to 20th, Theresa hosted the TriYoga Summer Retreat at Light on the Hill Retreat Center in New York State. TriYoga® senior teacher Kashi provided alignment assistance for seventeen participants from four states. The weekend rhythm included yogaflow®, Prana Vidya, nature, community, and delicious vegan food. Amidst weeks of sweltering heat and humidity on the east coast, perfect summer temperatures provided additional precious gifts.

Retreat experiences are rich and fulfilling, a time to sink into extended practice and connect with other seekers living a conscious life. Each person receives what they need. Every moment offers the possibility to expand. Life slows down so much that yesterday feels like a week ago.

To help paint the picture of a TriYoga retreat at Light on the Hill, we turned to the participants. Here's what the summer retreatants said about the adventure:

  • Absolutely amazing experience

  • Connection to myself and others

  • Bonding, freedom, peace and food

  • Relaxing, rejuvenating, spiritual, inspiring

  • Kindness

Retreats have the power to bring each person what they need, like the TriYoga practice itself. We all enter the flow together, but each person encounters something unique:

  • This re-awakened my spiritual side, where I had been feeling dry for some time. I wasn't necessarily expecting that from a yoga retreat.

  • So much (stands out for me), truly the autonomy in the yoga that meets me where I am, and the respect I felt from everyone.

  • The amazing food. The private rooms.

  • Wonderful balance of yoga practice, meals, other gatherings (with Kashi - what a treat!), solitude.

Why go on a retreat? To return to relaxation, to be nourished, to give your Self time and space to breathe. Whether you carve out a quiet hour in nature or escape to a retreat center built for your inner journey, time away from daily life brings perspective that helps the world shine brighter.

We leave you with comments from those who recently basked in retreat energy:

  • Theresa and Kashi are respectful leaders who provide clear guidance yet are also very flexible in attending to the varied needs of participants.

  • I appreciate all the help given to me. I have almost solely done yoga online and had never attended an in-person class before. I felt very comfortable…and I loved the chanting - such a feel of harmony in the room!

  • I didn't know if I would like doing that much yoga in one weekend, but it turned out to be just fine!

Retreats are a gift for body, mind, and spirit.

Theresa returns to Light on the Hill in Van Etten, New York, to lead the Fall Retreat (Oct. 10-12), assisted by longtime TriYoga student and TriYoga Senior Teacher Chandra. Peak fall color provides natural beauty for the weekend focused on Conscious Transitions. Come be amazed by what one weekend away can deliver.
