151 Beginnings

By Theresa Shay

On May 2, 2025, after the Level 2 interns joined me at 151, the new TriYoga space in Spring Mills, I closed Wisdom for the Week with the thought, “Now we set out to discover what will fill the space that Love built.”

Last weekend 151 welcomed people, postures, mats, movement, mums, and lots more love as we filled the yoga room with programs. Yoga in State College has never felt like this, and yoga in Penns Valley is about to have a whole new meaning.

When Glenn and I purchased the house at 151, a couple hundred steps down the road from our home, we did not have a clear vision for the property. We knew the place had the best view of George’s Valley, as our gaze was pulled that direction each morning on our walk. I believed Glenn was ready to put his talent to work on “a bigger box,” after watching him give 16 hours to a box for gifting chocolates, then making 20 more. We both understood that Glenn stands apart in his ability to vision and treasure an old house that anyone else would bulldoze down. So we made the purchase. But what we would actually do in the space was unclear.

This past weekend, the doings began to take shape.

Friday night to Sunday afternoon, the space hosted three programs: the inaugural Scoliosis Wellness Journey group, a Basics yogaflow® gathering, and on Sunday afternoon, a Level 1/2 extended practice.

Scoliosis practitioners embraced their curves and each other as they discovered how awareness relaxes the body and expands the mind.

At the end of the Saturday Basics yogaflow®, we circled around a beautiful platter of dried fruit, nuts, stuffed dates, and grapes that one of the participants created and shared stories.

The Level 1 /2 group reconnected with hugs after years of practicing apart. One person was recognized as the flow-er with the bright background on Zoom.

Meanwhile, the light danced across the room, window by window. The trees sparkled with color. The students became illuminated with energy.

I treasure the gift of sharing TriYoga in the space built by Love. May it serve the community for years and decades to come, a hOMe for gathering, flowing, eating, talking, being in nature, connecting, and coming together.

For those who have not seen the space yet, let these words and pictures dance through your mind’s eye until your feet can make their way to Harter Road.

Beauty within and without! Each window framing the radiance of a rural [landscape], each student, the open eagerness of spirit and Theresa, ever attuned to the perfection of the Flow. All awed by the energy of this new yoga space that Love built. Thank you, Theresa and Glenn.

The house feels quiet, gentle and speaks softly offering joy, laughter, exploration and love.

Thank you, Glenn and Theresa, for proving a space where nothing else exists................. A place of extreme Bliss.

Nice that the practice room is upstairs and on the edge of the building, its own space, unaffected by the movements of the world. I watched the light freely move from window to window, describing the nature of our day.

All are welcome here.

The next in person gathering will be held at 151 October 25 – 26. Register here.
